The Coral Coast is the gateway to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World – The Great Barrier Reef! Boasting an abundance of sea life, there are numerous day tours available to get you off the shores to enjoy the magic of this world recognized attraction. You will be amazed at the hues of the coral, the array of plantlife and the electrifying assortment of marine life as you explore this natural treasure.

From November until the end of March you are able to view the nesting and hatching of turtles at Mon Repos Turtle Rookery and beach. The Turtles venture ashore between November and January to nest. This unique experience is best viewed after dark. Hatching of the new marine life generally occurs from January to March. Many turtles return each year for nesting marking the Coral Coast as their home away from home. French for “My Rest”, Mon Repos is monitored by Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service to ensure the safety of the nesting Turtles and their hatchlings.

There are many other attractions to explore on the Coral Coast. From August to October there is the annual migration of the Humpback Whales or challenge yourself with a day out on the waters fishing. You can head out with your tackle either offshore, in the freshwaters or the estuary and river system. There’s always the big smoke of Bundaberg – head to town for a little retail therapy and check out where our favored rum is brewed on a Bundaberg Rum Distillery tour. Want to travel a bit further, throw in the picnic basket and discover the many mainland attractions within the National Parks of the ‘Discovery Coast’.
